SOLVED PC Does not boot into windows
PC Does not boot into windows.
This is a common issue faced by people when they install a program that has the potential to corrupt your windows. Or a crappy update from MS screws up your windows or something else that prevents your PC from booting.
Well, what usually happens is that you see the logo of the MoBo manufacturer and then you see two blinks of a suspicious _ and this goes on rebooting. Usually you do not even get a chance to select the version of Windows you want to boot into if you have set up a dual boot.
What has actually happened?
Some software in your PC has caused the corruption of your boot sector, the portion of the OS that tells what loads when and how, so if this is affected, your PC will not know how to boot, basically its like you forgot how to wake up all of a sudden and hence all you can do is sleep.
The solution is pretty much easy.
What do you need?
The windows image. It can either be in the Windows DVD , or you can create a bootable pendrive ( Use the Windows 7 USB Download tool ) to create one.
How to solve ?
Step 1: Load into the windows image , change boot priorities accordingly, and instead of installing the OS, press SHIFT + F10, this will open up a command prompt window.
Step 2: run the command bootsect.exe like this
type, "bootsect /nt60 SYS /force" without the quotes and please mind the spacing.
NOTE: If this does not work, replace SYS by ALL and try again.
Step 3: Once the command is rum and you get the message that the bootsect.exe ran successfully, all you need to do is close the command prompt and the installer, remove the image( USB or DVD) and reboot your system
You should be asked for which version you want to load and the windows will load the way it used to.
