Update 5/5/2013: I did successfully get the point cloud, the actual data, not a photo, onto the iPad and you can walk through the scene. Heres the post link:

As our company, ACAI Technologies, Inc., expands its services, Ive been having a lot of fun playing with point cloud projects.
The bad news is that its a big pain to get the data into Revit 2013 and Navisworks 2013. Were working with Faro laser scans and there is a slight hack trick that you need to do to import the scans into Autodesk products.
The good news is that its much easier in Revit and Navisworks 2014 programs. Also, Autodesk Recap rocks and is a great new tool. It converts the scans quickly and is great to walk through a scanned building. Now that I got the process down pat, I got bored and decided to try to get a laser scan onto my iPad. If youre going to be doing BIM, then you have to make the information portable and accessible from anywhere. Otherwise, you might as well be living in the CAD world and dont bother saying you collaborate with anyone.
For the record, you cant actually view the point cloud data on the iPad. What you can do is get the photos taken during the laser scan to export and view those on the iPad. In the video below is just one scan, but you can link multiple scans together. Thats tomorrows project for me. If you want to learn how to do this, contact me and we can discuss the process.
Oh, by the way, if you havent, go to www.autodesk.com/recap and download it now. You can stich photos together and make a 3D scene without a laser scanner.
