What to do if N8 00 Photo gallery or Music player cannot be accessed
In some cases Nokia N8-00 (v011.012) may enter a state where the Photo gallery (Menu > Photos > All) or Music player (Menu > Music player > Select any album or song) cannot be accessed. The phone display goes totally white or black.
The phone recovers in this situation by pressing the on/off switch for 8 seconds but the same issue will happen again when entering the photo gallery or music player.
The problem can be fixed by one of the following ways:
- Installing a software update via SW Update application (Menu > Applications > SW Update). The update for fixing this issue is expected to be soon available.
- Taking the device to Nokia Care point for reflashing.
The recommended way of fixing the issue is to install the software update in SW Update menu as soon as it is available for your device.
If it is not possible to wait until the software update becomes available, the device should be taken to Nokia Care point for reflashing. Before doing this, all user data (pictures, videos and contacts) should be saved to PC by using USB connection and Ovi Suite or normal File transfer method. Do not use backup/restore function for saving user data because after restoring the data the same problem will appear again.
After the flashing of the phone, it is recommended that SIM card is inserted to the phone when it is started for the first time. Dont change the phone language during the first bootup. If the phone language selection window pops up, only the default language should be selected (do not change proposed language at this point of bootup). In this way you can avoid the same problem occurring again.
